SZNS 020:2012 Portable refillable fire extinguishers

1 Scope

1.1 This standard covers the principal requirements for the safety, reliability and performance of portable, stored pressure, refillable type fire extinguishers suitable for use on fires of classes A, B and C.

1.2 This standard covers the requirements for water type, foam type and dry chemical powder type fire extinguishers.

1.3 It does not cover the requirements for CO2 fire extinguishers. For the requirements of this fire extinguisher, refer to SANS 1567.

1.4 It does not cover Halon type extinguishers.

1.5 It does not cover the cartridge operated extinguisher.
